Brand Story
From Road Treads to Open Trails: 50 Years of Inspired Evolution (1975–2025)
In 1975, inside a sunbaked auto repair shop along Route 66, 22-year-old mechanic Jake Ceroiress stared at a flat pickup tire and fell deep into thought. If tire treads could grip the pavement so securely, why couldn’t outdoor footwear deliver that same unshakable traction?
Back then, he spent his weekends hiking the Rocky Mountains in worn-out boots. Slippery alpine trails and stiff, unforgiving soles always turned his trips into a clumsy struggle. Shaped by his father — a WWII tank mechanic — Jake set out to marry his mechanical know-how with real-world outdoor needs. He salvaged scrap tires to craft non-slip soles, drew on the structural engineering of tank tracks for built-in support, and shaped lightweight rubber from the shop into the very first pair of outdoor slides built to conquer both pavement and mountain terrain. That was the day Ceroiress was born.
From the Garage to the Forefront of Style: Defining Outdoor Footwear With Industrial Aesthetics
Jake’s first-generation designs carried a raw, rugged industrial edge. The sole mirrored the deep circumferential grooves of car tires to channel water and boost slip resistance; serrated edges along the sides, modeled after tank track treads, amplified grip on uneven ground.
When he showed up to the Colorado Outdoor Expo wearing his creation, he immediately caught the eye of both diehard adventure seekers and forward-thinking fashion buyers. For the first time, people saw that outdoor footwear could be high-performance and visually striking all at once. A surfer from Northern California put it best: “Walking on slick rock in these feels as steady as a tire rolling down the highway.”

Times Change, But the Drive for Freedom and Wellbeing Endures
Around the turn of the millennium, Jake’s daughter, Jessie Ceroiress, took the reins of the brand. With her innate West Coast eye for style and a deep understanding of how people actually live in their shoes, she elevated the brand’s industrial design language into something more trend-forward — and put a new, deliberate focus on long-term foot health.
Functional evolution: Staying true to the tire-inspired anti-slip core, she developed a dynamic drainage sole that keeps feet dry on sandy shorelines and through sudden rainstorms. Drawing from the load-bearing mechanics of tank tracks, she integrated a molded arch support structure to ease foot fatigue after full days on your feet.
Style reimagined: She launched the iconic black-and-white contrast collection, turning slides from purely outdoor gear into a versatile everyday staple — fit for gym sessions, coffee runs, gallery visits and everything in between. From New York hipsters pairing them with streetwear for downtown days, to Miami anglers stepping across slick dock planks at dawn, Ceroiress became the symbol of seamless transition between every part of life.
